My brother is married!!
Geoffrey Byron Bertsch and Ana Margartia Gomez were married on Monday, April 12, 2004. I wasn't able to make it down for the ceremony, but I will be attending the party next weekend. Here are some pictures my Aunt Jeanette took of the ceremony. You can view all of her pictures here.

This is for the Girls - It's Sandal Time
Please raise your big toes and repeat after me:
As a member of the Faux Paux Sisterhood, I pledge to follow The Rules when I wear sandals and other open-toe shoes:
I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.
I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe. I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.
I will shave the hairs off my big toe.
I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.
If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.
I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr.Scholl's if my feet need him.
I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low,low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids'sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.
I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.
I will promise if I wear flip flops, that I will ensure they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.
I will promise to go my local beauty school at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $15 and worth EVERY penny).I say spend another $15.00 and get a even better one.
I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show of wear... nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals...
For all our sakes, please don't keep this to yourself - pass it on to other Sisters.

Overview of the past month
Here is a brief overview of the past month...
* I took a First Aid class and I am now certified!!
* We let the kittens experience the great outdoors - ironic that at the moment they are sleeping on my bed
* Momma Cat left with Wyeth and Trina
* Went camping with Mag and her dog Mable for her birthday - We saw John Cleese at the Ventana Inn!!
* Went to San Diego for a Season 6 Sex and the City fest with Pudah and cried during the last 6 episodes
* Got fitted for Pudah's bridesmaid dresses - I need to loose 20 pounds
* Went to a Mother Hips show - my favorite band of all time!!
* WENT TO DISNEYLAND!!!
* Dan's open house party - Marya writes more.
Things have been pretty busy, but super good. I'm really enjoying my time off. Bret and I go hiking almost every day and biking once a week with our bike group. Marya and I hang out and have coffee on my porch and watch the little monsters run around the creek.
I am so in love with the kittens. I've never been this in love with an animal before. It almost scares me how attached I am to them. They are the most spoiled creatures. They have two doting mothers who are home all the time giving them love and attention. They have a wonderful creek paradise where they can climb trees, chase flies, look at birds, run around and they have two homes open to them at all times with food and fun places to sleep. Marya and I are at the same level of obnoxiousness about them which is great. We could both spend hours just watching them and laughing at the funny things they do. The other night Marya, Dan and Bret were over watching TV and Marya and I kept going "Look at how cute Charlotte is", "Look at little Chapy Chapes now" etc..... If we're this bad with kittens, when we have children - BEWARE.

Has it really been a month?
I can't believe it's almost been a month since my last post. I'm such a slacker. I got all motivated to do my Big Sur post and then I just didn't write anything else. Due to the fact that I mostly want to write about good stuff on my blog I feel like I'm bragging sometimes. "Oh, life is wonderful... blah blah blah". Things are really good and I like to share those things. Of course there are things that aren't so good as well, but I don't feel like posting those here. So, in order to keep this blog going, I think I'm going to have to get over the fact that I feel like I'm bragging and just write about all the fun things going on. Oh, and I'll probably be writing about the kittens a lot too. Maybe I should place a disclaimer on the site. Warning - Nothing but good things and kitten talk. Oh man, speaking of kittens, I think I need to take a break and empty the cat box. peeeuuuuuuuu!!
