Dieting + Saving Money = Misery
Ok, so I'm trying to lose weight, what else is new. But, I'm also trying to save money. I'm pretty good with money, but I'm not used to watching every penny. I'm trying to save money to go on our big trip and for something else. I'm not going to tell you the other reason I'm saving money, but trust me, it will be worth it. I just wish I knew what to get at the grocery store that was cheap, low fat and fulfilling. I tried to do the Healthy Choice frozen lunch today and it's just not working. Whine, whine whine.....
My Friend Pudah
Well, that's not really her name. Her name is Kristen Wernli and I've known her my whole life. She lived down the street from me growing up. She is actually two years younger than me, but we've been best friends ever since I can remember. We used to play in the canyons, run around the neighborhood, play games, write each other notes and hide them in the neighbors yards, share clothing, etc... I don't think I've ever called her "Kristen", I would usually call her "Krissy" and she calls me "Kristin". We used to get in fights about who had the correct spelling of the name and of course my name is spelled correctly with an 'i". Her brother, Rob called her "Pudah" growing up and then for some reason a few years ago my brother started calling me "Pudah". I don't know what it means or even how to spell it. Now all we call each other is "Pudah" or "Pudes" or "Pooh".
We talk at least once a day, email most every day, chat online and share stories about kitties, bike rides and man friends and she is the friend that I call first whenever anything happens that is exciting or devastating. She knows more about me than anyone else from having been friends for so long and I love her so much. I really wish she lived up here in SLO. Right now she and her man friend, Bob are starting a 6 day backpacking adventure in
Big Sur. They will be hiking to
Sykes Hot Springs tomorrow and then off into the mountains coming back on Friday with lots of stories to tell.
They drove up from San Diego last night and we stayed up until 4 am watching season 4
Sex and the City. Oh my God, it is so good. I've been watching the first 3 seasons for two years now and it was so exciting to watch some new shows. This morning we watched the episode where Miranda finds out she is pregnant and decides to keep the baby. We were both totally crying at the end. It was so good!
I made this college of some pictures of her and her man friend from a bike ride we did a few years ago. Bret, Kurt and I are going to do this bike ride later on today.
Born to Blog?
I was talking to
Tissa the other day about her blog. We started our blogs on the same day and she has written so much more than I have. I told her she was a natural born blogger. Before I started my blog, I used to think about my future blog a lot. I thought about so many things I would want to say and do on it. Now that I have it, I feel so shy and reserved. I think about writing something and then I change my mind and feel embarrassed about it. I compare myself to other more experienced bloggers that have great insights and cool web links and I get frustrated. I think it might take some getting used to, this writing for the whole world to see.
Thankful in San Luis Obispo
What am I doing up at this hour you ask? I just got off the phone with one of my closest, dearest friends, Tizzy in Tahoe. We spoke for an hour and a half. It was soooo good. We were inseparable in college; took as many classes as we could together and spent lots of time staying up late "studying", went through WOW training together, did London study together, took Yoga classes, started "the path" at the same time and lived together for a few years. Tonight was just like we were back in school talking about life and struggles and things to be thankful for. I think we could have talked all night. Only now she's talking about her wedding plans instead of where she's going to move after graduation and I'm talking about my dream come true trip to New Zealand with my dream boyfriend instead of my crazy night waitressing with Courtney at the
Olde Port Inn.
I think it's late and I'm getting all sentimental. I haven't even been out of college that long, 4 years, but it seems like a long time when I go out now and I see all the young girls and frat guys. It's weird to live in the same town I went to college to, every time I go out I think of all the crazy nights downtown with my girlfriends running into tons of people, etc.. I went downtown tonight to see Tim Bluhm from the
Mother Hips at the Frog and Peach with HB. I love the Mother Hips by the way and I'm so sad they broke up. It was great to see Tim. You must check out their album, The Green Hills of the Earth! If I were
M I would be able to give a musical review of the show, but I am not. I aspire to be like her someday though.
And speaking of M, she wrote the nicest thing about me on her blog the other day. It totally made me cry. And to end this blog entry on being thankful, I would like to say that I am very thankful to have her in my life for all her wisdom, loving kindness and inspiration. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.
Is this too mushy? I'm sorry, I can't help it. Good night.....
Momma Cat
Momma Cat is my part time kitty for a year. My friends Wyeth and Trina moved to
Byron Bay, Australia for 9 months to do a
Yoga teaching training course. They are having a great time. They are one of the main reasons HB and I are going on this vacation. We are going to spend a week with them in August.
Meanwhile, Momma Cat and I are bonding. It's funny how she has claimed certain spots around the apartment and how they've changed. Her favorite spot is on the window sill with the window open so she can hiss at other cats that come on the porch. I have to keep the blinds raised half way up on my porch door so she can look out at all times. She also LOVES the stairs. When she is playful she'll rub her face against the bars and roll around and make little purr noises. She also loves to curl next to me when I'm working from home with my laptop. She has to have her head resting on my right arm even though I keep moving it to type, etc...So cute!
Stay tuned for pictures of Momma Cat....
My very first blog entry
Wow, I can't believe I am finally writing on my very own blog. I don't really know what to say. I'm not sure who will be reading this. I'm hoping to start out using this as a post while HB and I are on our vacation this summer. That way we can keep in touch with everyone.
Hopefully we'll be able to post pictures and they'll be like instant postcards without the stamp and so much more information. Unless you are my mom. She writes so much on her postcards. Now that I'm thinking about postcards, they are so much fun to receive in the mail. We'll see what happens, if you're lucky you'll get an old fashion post card via snail mail.
